The Terminator
Streptomyces griseus is a hardy bacteria capable of
eliminating nearly all competition in the soil it lives. It is, therefore, no
surprise that it contributes 70% of naturally occurring antibiotics.[1]

It has a particularly thick peptidoglycan layer protecting
its membrane that resists lysis. Even a 6 hour exposure to lysozyme enzymes
failed to break the cell wall or prevent growth. Not only does it protect soil
from bio contaminants but it also has a thick mycelium that prevents erosion
and even digests numerous compounds such as chitin and lignocellulose, thus
greatly improving soil quality. It also contributes the earthly smell via
production of a compound known as geosmin.[2]
